Various people have agreed to act as advisers to Chris Cuffe to provide input when requested concerning the investment environment, the strategy of the Fund and/or the investments held. Below are the names and backgrounds of these advisers.

Chris has hand picked these advisers based on his respect for their expertise following his many years of experience in the investment management industry. Other than Frank Macindoe and Ashley Owen, these advisers have no legal responsibility to Third Link, Chris or the Fund. There are no agreements in place with the advisers but they all have agreed to be available to advise Chris on request on a pro bono basis.

 

Ashley Owen

Joint Chief Executive Officer, Philo Capital Advisers

Ashley is joint Chief Executive Officer of Philo Capital Advisers, an independently owned Australian-based provider of investment research, asset allocation, portfolio management and managed accounts services for advisory groups and fund managers. Ashley has been in the finance industry since the early 1980s during which time he has held senior executive roles in major banking & finance groups, including Citicorp, HSBC and ANZ where he ran business units and divisions in a range of areas such as lending, credit, financial control, marketing, branch networks, and corporate strategy. He has been a director of several companies including listed, private, charitable and not-for-profit organizations. He holds degrees in economic history, law and finance and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a CFA® charterholder. Ashley has written three books on finance and investing and is a regular media commentator and conference speaker on financial topics. He is a director of Third Link Investment Managers Pty Limited as well as Responsible Manager for the purposes of its Australian Financial Services Licence.



Frank Macindoe

Executive Director, Private Wealth Management, JBWere

Frank has been with JBWere since 2002 advising clients on asset allocation and a wide range of asset classes. He is an employee elected Trustee of the Goldman Sachs JBWere staff superannuation fund and chairs its investment committee. Frank was a lawyer for 20 years at Blake Dawson Waldron in Melbourne and Sydney and Allen & Overy in London. He specialised in domestic and international debt and equity raisings, corporate reconstructions and infrastructure finance. He was a partner of Blake Dawson Waldron for 12 years and headed the national Banking & Finance group and the Project & Structured Finance group. Frank has an Honours Degree in Arts and a Bachelor of Laws, both from the University of Melbourne. He is a director of Belvoir Street Theatre Foundation and also a Responsible Manager of Third Link Investment Managers Pty Limited for the purposes of its Australian Financial Services Licence.



Piers Bolger

Chief Investment Officer, Viridian Advisory

Piers is the Chief Investment Officer for the Viridian Financial Group.  He is responsible for the management of Viridian’s investment portfolios including any new strategies as well as the provision of relevant financial market insights and updates to our investor base. 

Before joining Viridian Piers was the Head of Diversified Portfolio Management within the Investments business of BT Investment Solutions, where he was responsible for the asset allocation and portfolio management of a range of diversified equity & multi sector investment solutions. Prior to BT Piers was Head of Research & Investments within the wholesale business of UBS Global Asset Management in Australia and co-Portfolio Manager for a quantitative based equity income strategy.

Piers has held various asset consulting and investment research positions in a number of consulting and fund-of-fund investment manager groups. His responsibilities included the development of asset allocation and investment strategies, as well as thematic market and investment related research.

Piers currently sits on the Advisory Boards of the Christian Brothers Oceania Province, and Primary Ethics Trust. He is also a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA).

 



Kieran Kelly

Managing Director, Sirius Fund Management

Kieran is the founder and major shareholder of Sirius Fund Management Limited, a boutique investment manager specialising in the Australian equity market. He has over 30 years of experience in investment banking, stockbroking and funds management, including with PNC International, Potts West Trumbull and Prudential-Bache Securities. He has been involved in numerous IPOs, private equity placements and advisory work. Kieran holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Macquarie University. He is also a Chartered Accountant, a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and has a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning.



Mark Nelson

Executive Chairman, Caledonia Investments Pty Limited

Mark is founder and now Executive Chairman of Caledonia (Private) Investments Pty Limited and Caledonia Investments Pty Limited and a Director of The Caledonia Foundation. He has over 20 years of experience working in the Australian investment and equity markets. Prior to the establishment of Caledonia Investments in 1992, Mark worked with Prudential-Bache Securities (Australia) Limited as a senior investment analyst and institutional adviser. He is a Trustee of the Art Gallery of New South Wales Foundation and a Director of Art Exhibitions Australia Limited. Mark was educated at the Universities of Melbourne and Cambridge, receiving his Doctorate in 1986.



Don Stammer

Former Chief Economist and Director of Investment Strategy for Deutsche Bank

Don has had four stages to his career: as an academic; in central banking; as an investment banker; and currently as a company director and investment commentator. From 1981 to 2001 Don was Chief Economist & Director of Investment Strategy for Deutsche Bank and its predecessor Bain & Company. Don has also served as a director of ING Australia and as Chairman of three ING listed property trusts and was Chairman of Tribeca Learning Limited. Currently he chairs QV Equities Limited and is a non-executive director of IPE Limited. Don is a regular writer for the press and now writes on investments for The Australian. He holds a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Arts from the University of New England and a Doctorate from the Australian National University.



Fiona Trafford-Walker

Director of Consulting, Frontier Investment Consulting

With nearly 22 years of investment experience, Fiona is now Director of Consulting of Frontier, an independent specialist Australian asset consulting firm. Since its inception in 2000 until July 2011, Fiona held the position of Managing Director. She was previously the Manager, Investment Advisory Services, at Frontier’s predecessor firm and has also worked in the Asset Consulting division of Towers Perrin. She holds a Bachelor of Economics with first class Honours from James Cook University of North Queensland and completed her Master of Finance at RMIT in 1995. Fiona was a foundation Director of the Australian chapter of the Investment Management Consultants’ Association (IMCA) and was a past member of the IMCA Education Committee and is on the Investment Committee of the Walter Eliza Hall Institute.



Stephen van Eyk

Managing Director, Stephen van Eyk Consulting

Stephen was founder and former Managing Director of van Eyk Research, a major provider of financial research in Australia. Prior to establishing van Eyk, Stephen had a 20 year career as an economist for a diverse range of organisations. He has been voted by Money Management magazine as one of the Ten Most Influential People in Australian Financial Services three years running. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales and a Diploma from the Securities Institute of Australia.



Geoff Wilson

Chairman, Wilson Asset Management (International)

Geoff Wilson established Wilson Asset Management in November 1997, following seven years at Prudential-Bache Securities. He has worked in the investment industry for the last 34 years with such companies as Scottish Amicable, Potter Partners and McIntosh Hamson Hoare Govett. Geoff is currently Chairman of WAM Capital Limited, WAM Active Limited, Wilson Investment Fund Limited and the Australian Stockbrokers Foundation Limited. He is a Director of Australian Leaders Limited, Clime Capital Limited, Future Generation Investment Fund Limited, Global Value Fund Limited and various non-profit organisations. Geoff holds a Bachelor of Science from La Trobe University Melbourne and is a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors.
